In the Atlassian Marketplace there are thousands of apps available – sorting through it all can be almost impossible. Where are the hidden diamonds? Our Marketplace Analytic Service can sort through and analyse all this information to give you a very thorough understanding of what’s hot and what’s not.

The table below shows which are the fastest movers in the currently free category. It should be noted that in many cases what is free today will cost tomorrow – indeed this is the essence of the strategy to gain market share.

Here are the highlights:

  • Time sheets is still a critical application and it’s clear that HeroCoders see more room in this space, despite the Tempo juggernaut. Could be an easy starting point and later consider migration to Tempo.  Equally Tempo is still the functional leader in this space.
  • Power Admin for Server and Data center has seen impressive growth – but we’re surprised there are no reviews. In terms of functionality it looks impressive – we’re in the process of reviewing it as I write this.
  • Integration is king – most of these apps are enabling enterprise tools linkage – could point to latent functionality needed in Atlassian apps themselves. Or that teams are choosing some hot design packages such as Figma and Miro.
  • Microsoft is picking up where Hipchat left off here we think since Teams offers chat.
  • Adobe is still a key player in the publishing space.
  • Cloud unsurprisingly is the most supported platform.

This snapshot is just a small slice of the fantastic intelligence from the marketplace and is a slightly dated “point in time” snapshot. If you want up to the minute reports and intelligence, call us and we can discuss!

Notes
1. This report is from mid April data. We will update again in a month or so
2. Active instances are simply instances that Atlassian can communicate to. Apps behind firewalls are probably not counted but equally trials are included perhaps cancelling each out
3. These are our categories. We re-categorized the top 500 Apps for a better way to understand the market
4. Platform score means how many platforms the app operates from. It should be noted that we don’t know the split between platforms of instances
