Appfire have now made their 7th acquisition of the year with the July 27th announcement that Snapbytes will become part of Appfire’s ever-expanding portfolio of apps.
In our “Category Report” series of blog posts we break down individual categories and look into them in a bit more depth. Today we will be looking at Diagramming apps. In MARS Diagramming apps are apps that bring diagramming and graphing functionality into Jira and Confluence
Diagramming is one of the larger marketplace categories with 81,000 instances, 94% of which are on paid apps. With the market share for paid diagramming apps at 94% (versus 64% for the marketplace as a whole) we can see that when it comes to diagramming the overwhelming majority of users believe that the added investment into a paid product is worth it.
Who are the movers and shakers, a special segment on Appfire, and the implications for customers and vendors? This webinar will cover all major categories of the marketplace including category leaders, analysis of free vs. paid, the most interesting use cases. With the Atlassian Marketplace booming (instances have grown 99% from 2018 to 2021) customers are increasingly recognizing the incredible value that is available from using 3rd party apps. However, with nearly 4,000 available apps and 1.6M instances, navigating it can be difficult.

In bringing together the apps of well known vendors such as Innovalog, Beecom, Botron, Annova, and most recently SoftwarePlant, Appfire have grown to make up over 20% of all paid Atlassian Marketplace instances!
We recently ran a webinar on Portal apps for Jira and Confluence. Portal apps can be key to bringing context to work for role-workers and helping individuals feel a sense of orientation, especially in large corporate settings. Here’s a recap of all of the main points from the webinar:
There are many reasons to link issues, and many ways to do so. To use Insight or not? Customers still often ask this question. Issue-linking provides the foundational capability for many of our solution blueprints, from PPM to GRC and beyond. We will review many of the key use-cases for linking issues and third-party apps that provide this functionality. We’ll cover data catalogues, asset records in Jira, requests from Service Management, and the power and limitations of object graphing.
Welcome to the new Apps in the club! When we started our analysis over a year ago, we wanted to understand if there was any major Pareto effect in the marketplace. Also we needed a way to determine who we should prioritize in adding to our categories. As a reminder vendors self select their categories on the Atlassian Marketplace. It’s certainly democratic yet it can mean if you want to know who the real players are in any category, there is a lot of “noise”.
