New Apps in the 500 Club! – October 2021

Welcome to the new Apps in the 500 Club!
Made up of all Atlassian Marketplace apps with over 500 instances, the 500 Club is a key part of our Marketplace Analytic Research Service (MARS)–our database of 3rd party Atlassian Marketplace apps.
We created MARS in November 2017 because while many Atlassian Partners make their own apps, we believed that we could bring greater value by creating a quantitative and objective database on every facet of the Atlassian Marketplace.

New Apps in the 500 Club! – July 2021

New Apps in the 500 Club! – July 2021

Welcome to the new Apps in the club! When we started our analysis over a year ago, we wanted to understand if there was any major Pareto effect in the marketplace. Also we needed a way to determine who we should prioritize in adding to our categories. As a reminder vendors self select their categories on the Atlassian Marketplace. It’s certainly democratic yet it can mean if you want to know who the real players are in any category, there is a lot of “noise”.

Category Report: Diagramming

Category Report: Diagramming

In our “Category Report” series of blog posts we break down individual categories and look into them in a bit more depth. Today we will be looking at Diagramming apps. In MARS Diagramming apps are apps that bring diagramming and graphing functionality into Jira and Confluence
Diagramming is one of the larger marketplace categories with 81,000 instances, 94% of which are on paid apps. With the market share for paid diagramming apps at 94% (versus 64% for the marketplace as a whole) we can see that when it comes to diagramming the overwhelming majority of users believe that the added investment into a paid product is worth it.

Category Report: Utilities

In our “Category Report” series of blog posts, we break down individual categories and look into them in a bit more depth. Today we will be looking at Utilities.
In MARS Utilities are essentially the apps that are leftover once everything else has been categorized–the apps often have a wide range of functions and often act to make instances generally more usable.
We can see that there are a significant number of utilities on the Marketplace and that they have grown at a solid rate of around 6% this year.

In MARS Code Management apps are apps associated with Bitbucket and facilitate the better management and tracking of code activities.

MARS Report: Cloud

MARS Report: Cloud

With Atlassian accelerating the journey to the cloud and 90% of new customers landing on the cloud we would expect to see this be reflected in the Atlassian Marketplace. Through our Marketplace Analytic Research Service (MARS) we are able to delve into the data and quantifiably measure how cloud growth is reflected in the Marketplace.
