New Apps in the 500 CLUB! – December 2021

Made up of all Atlassian Marketplace apps with over 500 instances, the 500 Club is a key part of our Marketplace Analytic Research Service (MARS)–Blended Perspectives’ database of 3rd party Atlassian Marketplace apps.
We created MARS in November 2018 because while many Atlassian Partners make their own apps, we believed that we could bring greater value by creating a quantitative and objective database on every facet of the Atlassian Marketplace.

Appfire + Numbered Headings

Appfire + Numbered Headings

Following their acquisition of Project Configurator for Jira in November 2021, Appfire has made another individual app purchase by bringing Numbered Headings into their significant app portfolio.
Numbered Headings is a very interesting app that allows Confluence users to easily number headings on their Confluence pages with numerous formatting options that make documented content simple and easy to organize.

Tempo + ALM Works

Tempo + ALM Works

With their acquisition of ALM Works and its Structure suite of apps, Tempo has ended a year of major takeovers in the Atlassian ecosystem with one of the most significant of them all.
ALM Works are the makers of Structure – Project Management at Scale. Structure is one of the big two Planning applications on the Atlassian Marketplace (along with BigPicture). Structure is an incredibly popular product with 10,989 active installs while ALM Works’ more stripped back Structure.Gantt product has 4,779.
Tempo’s takeover of Roadmunk (an end-to-end roadmapping solution for building and communicating product strategy) in November gave us an indication that they were looking to make moves into the Planning space. However, this takeover has taken everyone by surprise. Although the acquisition is still fresh we think that this is great news, both for Tempo and ALM Works and for the wider Atlassian community.

Jira Work Management: Supporting Every Team

Jira Work Management (JWM) was announced by Atlassian to much excitement at Team ’21 in April 2021. JWM runs on Atlassian’s Cloud platform and is essentially Jira but built and designed for non-technical teams.
With well over half a year since the announcement, we’re starting to get a bit more of a grip on how JWM is likely to be used and how it fits into the wider Atlassian ecosystem so we thought we’d give you our take.

The State of the Atlassian Marketplace

We recently presented on the “State of the Marketplace” at the New York ACE. This was a great event so for those that may have missed it we’ve consolidated our findings here.
Our Atlassian Marketplace analysis is powered by our Marketplace Analytics Research Service (MARS). This is our unique database of 3rd party Atlassian Marketplace apps that has in-depth Marketplace data going back all the way to when we created it in November 2017.
While other Atlassian Partners focus on making their own applications, we believed that we could bring greater value by creating a quantitative and objective database on every facet of the Atlassian Marketplace.

Excellentable Spreadsheet for Confluence: MARS App of the Month (Nov 2021)

Excellentable by Addteq allows Confluence users to collaboratively create, edit, and share Excel style spreadsheets all from within Confluence. Rather than endlessly having to leave Confluence clicking on link after link as you try to find the spreadsheet file and version relevant to you, Excellentable users can easily view and edit their sheets right on the Confluence page itself. Since spreadsheet data is displayed on the page itself rather than in a link, users can also search for its content from Confluence itself.

Whiteboards for Jira: MARS App of the Month (September 2021)

Whiteboards for Jira: MARS App of the Month (September 2021)

It’s been an awesome year for Whiteboards for Jira and the Spartez Software team! On top of Whiteboards’ 125% install growth this year, Spartez has been acquired by Appfire–a sure sign that there’s a talented team behind this app and that it’s definitely one that’ll be only growing going into the future.
Whiteboards is well suited to the new remote/hybrid work environment that we’ve all experienced and will continue experiencing so it’s no wonder that this app is growing at a remarkable rate. Despite many of the benefits that remote working can bring, meeting remotely can often fail to bring about the truly collaborative, creative, and structured meetings we all wish we were having. Whiteboards brings the benefits of in-person planning sessions but goes deeper with significant integration with Jira, real-time collaborative editing, and the ability to plan with partially distributed teams. Whiteboards’ growth figures reflect its growing popularity among dispersed teams.

The story behind Atlassian’s 81% YTD share price growth

The story behind Atlassian’s 81% YTD share price growth

2021 has been an incredible year for Atlassian–following the announcement of Q4 earnings on July 29th shares in Atlassian have soared through the roof hitting a high (at the time of writing) of $405 (Figure 1). In the space of as little as six weeks the stock jumped $125 on the back of a strong quarter’s results. What we’re going to explain is that this is truly encouraging for customers – because this is a huge growth stock with a massive increase in customers on an already massive scale. Its clear that when it comes to customers Atlassian is hitting it out of the park.

New Apps in the 500 Club! – July 2021

Welcome to the new Apps in the club! When we started our analysis over a year ago, we wanted to understand if there was any major Pareto effect in the marketplace. Also we needed a way to determine who we should prioritize in adding to our categories. As a reminder vendors self select their categories on the Atlassian Marketplace. It’s certainly democratic yet it can mean if you want to know who the real players are in any category, there is a lot of “noise”.
