MARS
One of our unique offerings at Blended Perspectives is our Marketplace Analytic Research Service (MARS) database of Atlassian Marketplace 3rd party apps.
While many Atlassian Partners make their own apps, we believed that we could bring greater value to our customers and the Atlassian Community as a whole by creating a quantitative and objective database covering every facet of the Atlassian Marketplace.
MARS contains a vast array of data from instances, reviews, and pricing, to the platform, app growth, and version releases. This is all tied together at the top level through our meaningful app categorization in which for every app over 500 instances we carefully assigned our own categories based on the primary functionality of each app rather than using Marketplace app categorizations which are somewhat meaningless due to vendor self-selection. This means that MARS can give us a completely unique perspective into which apps are really excelling and driving forwards in the Marketplace.
Therefore, every month we’ll be announcing our “MARS App of the Month”. The app of the month is selected across a number of MARS metrics including instance growth rate, version releases, and feature updates and this month the MARS App of the Month is Aura – Beautiful Formatting Macros.
Aura
As readers of our July 2021 Fastest Movers post will know, Aura was the fastest-growing Marketplace app in July growing by a remarkable 16% over the month (the next closest apps only grew by a still-impressive 9%). Furthermore, over 2021 as a whole Aura has been the 12th fastest growing Marketplace app showing growth of 203% from just over 200 instances to now pushing 800 instances.
//SEIBERT/MEDIA obviously has a long track record in creating quality Confluence applications and Aura is yet another feather in their cap in this regard. Aura is, as the name would suggest, a beautiful app that is a must-have for anyone looking to make visually pleasing Confluence pages. Aura is unique in both its easy-to-use interface and the unparalleled clean designs that users can apply to all of their Confluence pages.
Aura is evidently a quality application and its recent growth this year has been particularly impressive. Aura’s recent growth takeoff is likely down to a feature-heavy 3.0.0 release in late 2020 and very competitive cloud and DC/server pricing, on top of customers increasingly recognizing the vast and pain-free visual improvements to Confluence that are available through Aura.

This macro lets users create beautiful title images quickly and easily to ensure readers are both engaged and aware.
Furthermore, rather than just showing grey macro boxes when creating and editing pages, most Aura macros are shown as they will be seen by the end user making it easier and more time efficient to create beautiful pages.
Aura can be used for pretty much anything that you would use an internal or external Confluence page for: Knowledge Bases, Product & Project Documentation, Onboarding, SAFe PI Planning, Showcases, Team Spaces, Help Center, Intranet, Landing Pages…
